Sarpanch opens fire in Batala village, injures 3

BATALA: An Akali sarpanch fired at a group of people over a land dispute, injuring three. Sarpanch Navjot Singh has been at loggerheads with neighbour Gurdeep Singh over the past few years over the ownership of a tract of agricultural land. Both parties were having a heated argument when Navjot allegedly pulled out his pistol and started firing. Gurdeep Singh, Gurpreet Singh and Balwinder Kaur were injured in the firing and were recuperating at the Civil Hospital. A case has been registered against Navjot and his five accomplices Bir Singh, Laddi, Jagdeep Singh, Subeg Singh and Sulakhan Singh.
