New Delhi: Paramjeet Kaur, a 52-year-old grandmother from Mohali is among the first female bike taxi riders who ferry passengers for Uber. Kaur functions as part of the Punjab government's 'Apni Gaddi, Apna Rozgar' programme. The bike taxi is an initiative launched at the Indian School of Business in collaboration with UberMOTO. The women are facilitated with permits along with mobile phones to deliver the service smoothly. Kaur said, "Sometime ago, I got a message flashed on my mobile about the company’s new bike taxi service in Punjab. A little hesitant initially, I accepted the offer later," Kaur was quoted as saying.
