Sangrur: Punjab has become the first state in India to operationalize projects of 117 megawatts, after a company called Omega Solar Projects Private Limited built a power plant of 10.50 MW at Sangatpura village in Sangrur district. The project cost over Rs 84 crore and is buitl across 45 acres of land. Punjab's renewable energy minister Bikram Singh Majithia said another firm, Acme Group will set up their 100 MW solar projects in Mansa district by 2016 and, French solar giant Solaire Direct shall add 54 MW solar power in Fazilka district.
