Chandigarh: SAD leader Harsimrat Kaur Badal said repeated paroles to rapist Gurmeet Ram Rahim by the ruling dispensation were spreading communal disharmony.

Harsimrat, giving her views at the all-party meeting on the eve of the Budget session of Parliament, said, “There should be one law for all.” She said the manner in which paroles and remissions were being granted to rapists and murderers was disturbing.

“The Sikh community is hurt that while all this is happening, the commitment made by PM Narendra Modi on the 550th birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev in 2019 to free all the Sikh detainees (Bandi Singhs) has not been implemented till now,” she said.

Cuts cake with sword

Meanwhile, the Dera chief was seen celebrating by cutting a giant cake with a sword in a video that has gone viral on social media. In the purported clip, he can be heard saying, “I should cut at least five cakes as I got a chance to celebrate after a five-year gap.”

Ram Rahim, serving a 20-year jail term for rape and murder, arrived at his ashram in Baghpat last week - the premises quickly turning into some sort of a fortress - where he has been holding online “satsang” sessions attended among others by several BJP functionaries from Haryana, including MPs and MLAs.
