PM Narendra Modi will address the UnitedNational General Assembly in NewYork in Hindi,home minister Raj nath Singh said. Modi is expected to address the UN General Assembly on September 27.
“I, as a minister, once delivered my speech at the United Nations in Hindi... Our Prime Minister Narendra Modi will deliver his speech at United Nations in Hindi,” the home minister said at a function organized on the occasion of Hindi Divas at Rashtapati Bhavan.
Singh said Modi also speaks in Hindi when he meets foreign dignitaries. Singh said Atal Behari Vajpayee was the first PM to deliver his speech at the US in Hindi. He said 55% population of the country spoke Hindi while 85-90% people in the country understood Hindi even though it was not their mother tongue.
