With assembly elections just four months away, and the Lok Sabha results reducing BJP’s seat tally by 50% in the state, Haryana CM Nayab Singh Saini launched ‘Happy Card’, which offers 1,000 km of free rides a year on state buses to all members of families with an annual income of up to Rs 100,000.
Called Haryana Antyodaya Parivar Parivahan Yojana (Happy), distribution of the cards began in Gurgaon and other parts of the state last week. “So far, Happy cards have been distributed among 59,708 beneficiaries,” an official said. It said Saini, who was the chief guest at a state-level event held at Karnal, launched the statewide distribution of HAPPY cards. The scheme will benefit approximately 85,00,000 beneficiaries in the state, and 59,708 people have already received the cards.
