New Delhi: After the return of Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi, from his two month sabbatical, the party has initiated its nationwide “expansive changes” approach. The party most recently changed former Lok Sabha MP Hamdullah Sayeed as the Congress chief in Lakshwadeep, similarly, many Pradesh Congress Committee chiefs are settled to be replaced.

High on the list is Punjab, owing to the awkward irreconcilable differences between PCC Partap Singh Bajwa and former chief minister Amarinder Singh. The latter has since long been pressing for Bajwa to be removed, looking forward to appoint one of his own people. Names of senior party leader Ambika Soni, Lal Singh, and Ravneet Bittu are doing the rounds for the post of the state party chief.

A Bajwa supporter has however, rubbished the issue saying, “There is no danger. Bajwa enjoys the support of Rahul Gandhi. There is no move to replace the party president.” Party in-charge of Punjab Shakeel Ahmad said, “Bajwa continues to enjoy the confidence of Congress chief Sonia gandhi and vice-president Rahul gandhi. If there is any change, we will let you know.”
