Amarinder, Badal exchange sweets, flowers

Chandigarh: Political rivals, Amarinder Singh of the Congress and Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal exchanged sweets and flowers through emissaries recently, in a show of bonhomie. Amarinder sent sweets and fresh flowers plucked from the garden of his estate in Patiala, through a close aide, and in return, Badal greeted him on his appointment as chief of the Punjab unit of the Congress, and sent a bouquet of flowers, a fruit basket and five boxes of sweets. Amarinder will formally take over as Punjab Congress president at the public rally in Bathinda, the stronghold of Badal family.
