Police in Jalandhar arrested five operatives of Canada-based Khalistani terrorist Lakhbir Singh Landa on charges of extortion, murder and smuggling of arms and drugs across the border. Five foreign-made pistols were recovered from the accused during the 15-day operation launched to nab them. Punjab DGP Gaurav Yadav said the arrested were involved in arms and drug smuggling across the border, multiple heinous crimes such as murder, extortion, ransom and many other criminal activities in many districts of Punjab. In December last year, India declared Lakhbir Landa as a terrorist. Landa's name had also figured in connection with the RPG attack at Sarhali police station in Tarn Taran in December 2022. Landa belongs to Punjab but has been living in Canada for the past few years. He has been involved in hatching conspiracies against India.
