Reliance Industries chairman Mukesh Ambani’s 26-year-old daughter Isha is set to tie the knot with Anand Piramal (33), son of Ajay Piramal, chairman of the Piramal Group. The couple will marry in December in India. The announcement came close on the heels of Isha’s twin Akash’s engagement with Shloka Mehta, daughter of Russell Mehta of Rosy Blue, one of India’s largest diamond companies.

Anand proposed to Isha at a temple in Mahabaleshwar and the couple celebrated the occasion with a lunch with close family, including parents Nita and Mukesh, Swati and Ajay, their siblings, and grandparents. “Anand and Isha have been long-time friends and both their families share a strong bond of friendship for over four decades,” a statement said.

The Ambanis and Piramals sit atop diversified business interests - from oil and telecom, to healthcare and financial services. The Piramal Group is also considered among the more cash-rich in India Inc, especially following its sale of Abbott Laboratories for $3.72 billion. Anand is an executive director in the Piramal Group. He graduated in economics from University of Pennsylvania and completed his MBA from Harvard Business School.

Isha is a board member in Reliance Jio and Reliance Retail. She graduated from Yale University with double majors in psychology and South Asian studies in 2013 and is currently pursuing an MBA from Stanford’s Graduate School of Business, which she will complete in June this year.
