Speaking at the state-level Independence Day celebration in Nadiad on August 15, chief minister Bhupendra Patel said that India’s first indigenously developed semiconductor chip will be manufactured in Gujarat.“We have so far attracted an investment of £10 bn in the electronics and semiconductor sector,” he said.
He announced an increase in the monthly income limit set earlier by the state govt for people wanting free ration under the Centre’s Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana (PMGKAY). At present, a family with a monthly income of Rs 15,000 is eligible to get free food grain under the scheme. “I announce to increase the monthly income limit from Rs 15,000 to Rs 20,000,” he said in his speech.
After hoisting the the national flag, Patel appealed to the people to support the vision of Viksit Bharat by achieving the goals of Viksit Gujarat through the seven resolutions - accessibility, simplicity, communication, dedication, participation, empowerment, and security of good governance - inspired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Patel announced a budget allocation of £501.7 mn for expanding the state’s road infrastructure. He said that efforts will be made to enable citizens to effectively and seamlessly communicate their concerns to the government through modern communication channels. The government will proactively address and resolve these issues.
He also noted that security, safety, and peace are fundamental to development. The government has enhanced law and order by updating outdated laws and introducing three new laws to ensure the safety of the people. The implementation of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sahita, Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sahita, and Bharatiya Sakshya Vidheyak has established a unified legal code across the country. These new laws will expedite judicial processes and enable appropriate measures to be taken for public safety.
