While the BJP thanked the people of the state for reposing their faith in the Modi government, while the Opposition parties said that they could not field any candidates in 71 per cent of the seats that the BJP won uncontested.
Speaking to the media following the results, Chief Minister Manik Saha said that the results have displayed the extent of the people’s support for Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his leadership.
The BJP won 97% of the seats with huge margins. “There must be an effort to win all 100 per cent seats in the future,” Saha said.
Meanwhile, the CPI(M) said that the results have come as a wake-up call for the BJP as it faced tough competition in seats where the Opposition fielded candidates.
