Krishna Kalyani, Mukutmani Adhikari, Madhuparna Thakur, and Supti Pandey - the four newly elected Trinamool MLAs on Tuesday took oath in the state assembly. Speaker Biman Banerjee administers the oaths. Following the oath administration, Speaker claimed that the entire ceremony was done following the constitution. Meanwhile, the BJP members boycotted the ceremony as they remained absent from the session. After the MLAs were elected, the Speaker had written to governor Ananda Bose, asking if he would administer the ceremony, to which the latter reportedly did not respond. “If the Governor does not assign someone to administer the oath-taking ceremony, the house will organize the ceremony during a session,” the Speaker had said. "As per convention and under Article 188 of the Constitution, the four newly elected members, who won in the recent by-elections, will be sworn in by me," the Speaker told reporters earlier.
