Britain's exit from the European Union has not only affected the global market, but also directly hit businessmen in Saurashtra. The Saurashtra business community has played an active role in the exports especially in the fields of agro-commodities, spices, Indian foods, Ceramic, etc.

The vote turn out of the referendum has visibly shaken the local businesses as they face the uncertain consequences of updated laws and trade rules that will most probably be marred with new duties and taxes. The falling of the pound and sterling, also directly affects these Gujarati businessmen. Saurashtra is prominent in the export of peanuts, sesame, and other such agro-commodities.

Well-known exporter Sunil Lakhani believes that the exit has made way for new trading rules. Which means the implementation of new duties. While all of these are speculations, the exact consequences can only be known once the chaos settles down. Other exporter Arun said, "Saurashtra has the maximum number of exports of agro-commodities, spices, and food stuffs. All these exporters are at a loss. When we look at it from the Indian economy's point of view, it is not a big deal. Even with the changed scenario, work will go on as before. Especially with the Indian-residents' demands for the commodities, there is no big difference.
