Air India has issued a full refund to Anip Patel, CEO of CaPatel Investments, after he shared a video on social media detailing his disappointing first-class experience.
The Indian American businessman had taken a non-stop flight from New Delhi to Chicago and described it as his “worst” flying experience.
In the video, Patel recounted his “nightmare” journey, expressing frustration over the lack of Wi-Fi and broken in-flight entertainment during the 15-hour flight. He also criticized the condition of the first-class cabin, noting it was unclean, with leftover food and trash still present, and that much of the seating appeared worn or damaged.
“I had heard negative things about Air India in the past, but I was hoping the recent changes under new management would improve the experience. Unfortunately, that wasn’t the case,” Patel said.
Patel soon revealed in the comments section of his Instagram post that Air India refunded the full $6,300 cost of the ticket without him filing an official complaint. He expressed satisfaction, stating, “They did it right in the end.”
