Airlines, such as British Airways, easyJet and Qatar Airlines have banned the self-balancing, two-wheeled scooters, known as hoverboards, from their flights due to fears that they might explode and bring down the plane.
Hoverboards, which have proven to be a popular gift idea, were set ablaze while they were being charged in family homes.
While planes will not complete delivery orders of the self-balancing scooter, Royal Mail said they would continue to deliver them as “there are no restrictions on owning a hoverboard.”
It is said that an estimated 500,000 people bought hoverboards as presents in Britain.
Officials at British borders are allegedly destroying and discarding over 1,000 dangerous hoverboards per day, after faults in batteries, safety switches and plugs were found.
