Everything we eat always has an impact on our bodies. Whether it is our cardiovascular health or our cognitive functions, our nutrition intake boosts various functions in the body. As we age, our brain, too, needs proper care to prevent cognitive decline.
Nutritionist Anjali Mukerjee shared a post about foods that help with memory and concentration, and are linked to better brainpower.
"The foods we eat can have a big impact on the structure and health of our brains. So eating a brain-boosting diet can support both short and long-term brain functions and improve mental tasks, such as memory and concentration," the nutritionist wrote.
She recommended having foods that are rich in lecithin, a nutrient which is a mixture of fats essential for the brain. Foods like whole wheat, egg yolks, nuts and soybeans contain lecithin. The nutritionist also advised having foods rich in choline, found in fruits.
She added that adding herbs to the diet can help improve brain functions. "Herbs like ginkgo, ginseng, and ayurvedic herbs like Brahmi and Shanka Pushpi can help reduce memory loss and improve mental functioning," she wrote.
The most important activity to ensure better brain health is sleep. She adds that to ensure a good night's sleep, drink chamomile tea. "Relax and calm the mind with chamomile tea, which can help you sleep better and feel more rested," she wrote.
