Teething gels don't work well

Baby teething gels such as Bonjela are to be taken off supermarket shelves after health officials said there was little evidence they worked. From January 1 all teething gels for babies containing lidocaine - a mild local anaesthetic - will only be available from behind pharmacy counters. Until now the products, which include Bonjela and Calgel teething gels, have been available from garages, supermarkets and corner shops.
