Advisers to the Department of Health will be publishing an eminent study recommending a reduction to the amount of sugar allowed in a healthy diet.
The report will guide families on how to deal with and tackle the problem of childhood obesity.
It is said that children under the age of 11 are consuming three times as much sweet food and drinks.
The most recent reports suggest that children gain 15% of their daily energy from added sugar or present naturally in products, which is the equivalent to about 60g of sugar daily or two cans of fizzy drinks.
