Finding the right balance between work and personal life is important to maintaining a healthy lifestyle, managing stress levels, and promoting better sleep quality. It is essential to recognise the importance of work-life balance, not just for our physical health but also our mental well-being.
A work-life balance allows a person to prioritise work, pay attention to health, manage social engagements, and enjoy themselves throughout the day without feeling stressed.
To find the right balance, you can practice the following steps:
Prioritise your health
Try to include physical activity in your schedule. Go for a walk, exercise. This releases endorphins which play an important role in elevating mood and contributing to good mental health. It is also just as important to prioritise your mental health.
Take short intervals
Take short intervals at work throughout the day, while working and otherwise. Taking breaks helps to taper your stress levels and allows you to refocus when you get back on task. Learn to say no in order not to overburden yourself with commitments.
Plan enough sleep
We all know the benefits of getting adequate sleep. It helps you maintain a stable mood and mind. Practice night rituals like warm or cold showers, stay away from the screen and go to bed at a fixed time every day.
Eat well
Maintaining a healthy relationship with food helps you stay satisfied and avoid binge eating. Do your blood work periodically and do vitamin checks.
Socialise
Being socially active helps you to feel refreshed. It allows you to gain insights about yourself, create happy memories and add a lot of meaning and purpose in life. Try to make healthy friends and spend time with them.
Cultivate hobbies
Learn new skills in the areas that interest you the most. Take out time to go once a week and practice your hobby. It could be anything creative, like learning a new dance form, journaling, painting, cooking, or gardening.
