Sir Philip Green, who has spent his years brushing shoulders with the cream of the society, recently gained himself quite the reputation of being the “unacceptable face of capitalism.” Owner of retail group Arcadia was thoroughly grilled by the media for taking out “enormous sums” out of BHS in dividend payments as the chain crashed.

Not the kind to take criticism in stride, Sir Philip responded to media questions in the worst manner possible, shooting disrespectful scripts to journalists and their editors. He even stooped to the level of telling Mirror's business editor that he planned to wipe his backside with the copy of the paper. While he always engages with the media, how he does it, entirely depends on him. “He cultivates this cool guy image, hanging around with Kate Moss and Beyoncé, but the reality is he’s a bully,” said a senior business journalist.

With the Fleet Street lining up against him, and the pensions regulator considering an inquiry and a Commons select committee to summon him for questioning, Sir Philips is just inviting more trouble for himself with his lack of elegance and decency.
