On 29th September 2015, Nikhil Rathi was appointed as the new CEO of London Stock Exchange Plc, succeeding Alexander (JJ) Justham, who served as CEO since June 2012.
Nikhil Rathi grew up in Barrow-in-Furness, Cumbria, and studied at Oxford University. He had joined London Stock Exchange Group (LSEG), as Director of International Development and Chief of Staff, as well as a Member of the LSEG Executive Committee, in May 2014.
Prior to joining LSEG, Rathi worked in the UK Treasury, where he held many senior positions for 11 years, including as Director of the Financial Services Group, where he represented the Uk Government's financial services interest in the EU and globally. From 2005- 2008, he also served as Private Secretary to the Prime Minister.
