Under the chairmanship of Indian High Commissioner to the UK, HE Vikram Doraiswami and Deputy Indian High Commissioner Sujit Ghosh, the officials of the Indian High Commission's Economic Wing interacted with around 25 Councillors of Indian origin from various parts of the UK. They discussed strengthening the India-UK economic partnership and about investment opportunities in each other's areas. Councillors shared ideas on how the High Commission of India can connect with various  businesses and companies from the areas they represented and work in partnership to promote investment in India.

High Commissioner HE Vikram Doraiswami said that the Indian High Commission is fully committed to help and support companies, investors and those who are already working or want to work in India in any fields such as technology, research and development, education and environment etc. It is in the mutual interest for both countries to work in partnerships.

Cllr Dr Shrobona Bhattacharya from South Cambs District Council also added that there is a huge scope to extend partnership working with India.

Chairman of SEVA Trust UK, Cllr Charan Sekhon MBE highlighted the contribution UK charities in India in education and other fields and said, “There are many businesses who want to work in partnership with genuine charities. So NGO and business partnerships should be encouraged. Many NRIs also want to support and uplift education in India through NGOs, but they can't do it on their own. So such partnerships should be promoted and supported."
