Before Indian Finance Minister Arun Jaitley's China visit came to a hasty end, he did a good job of pitching for more investment in the country's infrastructure sector. On his arrival in Beijing, he met with Tian Guoli, Chairman of the Bank of China, and addressed a closed round table meeting of heads of sovereign wealth funds, institutional investors and banks to promote investment in India's infrastructure sector.

One of the positive outcomes of the tour is the investment provided by a private equity fund managed by Goldman Sachs, to road infrastructure. The company's first investment in Indian roads, it has the potential of becoming one of the biggest private equity transactions in the space. Also in the race is the Wall Street firm, which has made considerable investments in real estate, renewable energy and hospitality in India.
