How Brexit Has Wrecked the British Economy

It’s awful. I’ve been looking at my Pension plan and the broader market. The devastation is killing me. Over the past 6 months some companies are only up 50% - like KAZ, Ferrexpo, Evraz.

Of course, with performance like that the London Stock Exchange will move to Berlin.

I am being selective. The FTSE 100 is up a 16% since Brexit (I don’t mean the low point on 24th June, I mean from 23rd June). Pah. Pathetic. Those blasted British companies are finding it easier to export because the Pound collapsed, swooned, dove, plummeted. We shouldn’t count such gains obviously to the national economy.

Anyway, who owns these companies? Rich hedge funds in the Cayman Islands I bet. Actually, they are listed on the London Stock Exchange and your pension fund invests into them, even if you have a small pension fund because the evil government wants to keep you poor and is hugely incompetent/corrupt/classist/racist (please delete based on your childhood issues).

Can’t understand what those pharmaceutical companies were thinking creating jobs in the UK. Surely some mistake. Probably got lost on the way to Paris and ended up at Kings Cross.

And what is Google thinking with their massive HQ in London? Well that’s that company down the loo then.

No investment coming into the UK, honest. None. Except all of these and many more that I keep mentioning. What’s wrong with these people?

Well they are all coming into London aren’t they? Ummm…yeah, am sure this website from Leeds gets no hits at all: http://www.investleedscityregion.com/

Am sure when Sky expanded in Leeds, or Perform or Google – they got lost on the way to Amsterdam.

What now? Panic. Even Americans are flooding Britain, getting married to Brits, emigrating here – worse still they are ethnic minorities. For god’s sake I thought Brexit was meant to stop all these foreigners coming here.

I know, lots of miserable news. Am sure you have a list of it yourself. All the job losses, the homelessness, the food banks, NHS about to collapse (oh, they did an amazing job on my dad’s kidney transplant last week).

Yes, in all seriousness, there is a lot to worry about. Debt for one. Standard of living. And to be honest, screw pension funds, when there are children living in poverty.

Let’s start with that. I’ve never looked at Government to have the answers – I’ve met them, that helps. I’ve looked at my fellow citizen. I tend to be a donor than a doer as a social worker or some like. I was gifted with a body and personality suited to a desk job in a quiet office. So I prefer donating. But those amazing souls running the organisation, which I wish did not exist, like Shelter, well they are the ones who run Britain. And they ain’t stopping because of Brexit. God bless them. Support them.
