Ed Sheeran's collaborations with Indian artists continue to soar. After performing with Diljit Dosanjh in Mumbai earlier this year, the "Perfect" singer made a surprise appearance at Arijit Singh's concert in London on September 15. The two musical icons shared the stage, delivering a powerful duet of Sheeran's hit song ‘Perfect’, leaving fans in awe.
Arijit expressed his gratitude on Instagram, thanking Sheeran for adding his "perfect" touch to the show. "London, thank you for showing up in such a magnificent way last night. Love and Gratitude. Thank you @teddysphotos for the #perfect moment," he wrote, sharing photos from the event.
The surprise collaboration ignited a frenzy on social media, with fans flooding platforms like X with videos and reactions. One fan shared, "Arijit Singh and Ed Sheeran’s ‘perfect’ collaboration deflected the asteroid and saved Earth!" Another wrote, "Arijit Singh may have just sung Perfect better than Ed himself!"
Suranjan Som has never missed an Arijit Singh concert when the singer performs in London. He told Asian Voice that he was very surprise as Ed Sheeran stepped on the stage and the two singers jammed to ‘Perfect’. “The crowd at the O2 Arena—16,000 strong—had sold out the event within three hours of ticket sales opening, mainly to see Arijit and when Ed Sheeran made a surprise appearance for one song, it was a huge shock for the audience”, he said,
He further added, “The audience was a mix of first, second, and even third-generation Indians, many of whom grew up in the UK and are fans of both Arijit and Ed Sheeran. To see one of their Western music idols perform alongside one of their Indian heroes was a brilliant move by the promoters and a pleasant surprise for everyone.”
With both Arijit and Ed Sheeran on stage, what stood out to Suranjan was their mutual respect for each other. He said, “Arijit has mentioned that he's a fan of Ed Sheeran, and it was clear that Ed Sheeran, seeing the love Arijit received from the crowd, gained a sense of who Arijit is and the impact he has on his fans.
“It was a memorable performance, and the chemistry between the two artists was truly a highlight of the night."
Gaurav Bhatia, another attendee also sings praise of the mutual respect between the two artists. “When Ed Sheeran joined him, Arijit was very respectful, and their interaction reflected mutual admiration”, he said. About the overall experience of the concert, he further said, “What stood out was how he sang each song exactly as it was recorded, yet infused it with his own energy, making it even more powerful.
“He kept the crowd captivated for nearly three hours, showing visible energy throughout. I was lucky to be right in front of the stage, and I noticed that he didn’t rely on any backing tracks—he sang everything live, which was truly impressive. Especially when he performed Perfect alongside Ed Sheeran, the energy of the audience soared to another level.”
Anushka Arora, was also present at the O2 to see the two artists collaborating and shared, “The collaboration between Ed and Arijit was nothing short of fireworks. It was a total surprise and in all honesty the harmonies the music, the energy in that arena was something that I cannot describe unless you were there to witness this historic moment.
“Two down to earth artists coming together to sing one song: perfect. It was nothing short of PERFECT. I hope they release their own version of this song or bring out some sort of musical collab very soon because we simply will never get over this!”
Another attendee, Aadil Siddiqui who had a similar exciting experience said, “The event exceeded all expectations, delivering a night of melodious performances that left the audience in awe. The highlight was Ed Sheeran's surprise appearance, which sent everyone in the O2 Arena to their feet, capturing a moment that was truly unforgettable given the unexpected collaboration between two generational artists.
“The show was highly anticipated, with fans eagerly awaiting this moment for months. His performance featured all of his hit songs and his seamless transitions between romantic ballads and high-energy tracks kept the crowd engaged throughout the concert.”
