Salaar achieves the third-biggest Indian film opening in Japan, following RRR and Saaho. Directed by Prashanth Neel, the film premiered in Japan on July 5, six months after its initial release last December. Star Prabhas boasts a significant following in the country.

According to Sacnilk, Salaar earned JPY 18.2 million (approximately Rs 95 lakh) in its debut weekend across nearly 200 screens in Japan. The film's opening surpasses the performance of Shah Rukh Khan's Pathaan (2023), which grossed JPY 14.6 million in its first weekend, securing the third-largest opening for an Indian film in Japan.

So far, SS Rajamouli’s *RRR*, featuring Jr NTR, Ram Charan, Alia Bhatt, and Ajay Devgn, holds the record for the highest opening for an Indian film in Japan, grossing JPY 44 million in 2022. Prabhas’ *Saaho* follows with JPY 23 million. *Salaar* has now reached JPY 23 million at the Japan box office, adding JPY 5 million in its recent earnings, as reported by Sacnilk.

Produced by Hombale Films, ‘Salaar’ featured Prabhas, Prithviraj Sukumaran, and Shruti Haasan in lead roles. Released on December 22, 2023, the film grossed over Rs 700 crore worldwide. It ranked among the top-grossing Indian films of 2023 and was Prabhas' third highest-grossing film at that point.
