Varalaxmi Sarathkumar married Mumbai-based gallerist Nicholai Sachdev in a private ceremony earlier this month at a beach resort in Krabi, Thailand. After the wedding, they held a reception in Chennai, which was graced by Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin, music composer AR Rahman, actor-politician Suresh Gopi, actors Jackie Shroff, Kichcha Sudeep, Balakrishna, and Venkatesh, as well as filmmaker Mani Ratnam, among others.
Newlyweds Varalaxmi Sarathkumar and Nikolai Sachdev spoke to the media about their journey together.
In the press conference, Nikolai shared, “I don’t know Tamil yet, but I’m learning and will speak it soon. My wife is not only beautiful, talented, and an exceptional actress, but she is so much more. I am incredibly proud and inspired by her every day. Chennai feels like home for us because it’s where our ancestors, including Varalaxmi’s family, lived. Even after marriage, Varalaxmi will continue acting. Cinema is her first love.”
Varalaxmi addressed questions about her acting career after marriage, saying, “Many people have asked if I would continue acting after getting married. My husband answered that for me, cinema is my life, even though Nikolai is my love.” She also mentioned, “I wanted to invite all the journalists to the wedding, but couldn’t due to the election season. I wanted to meet you all after the marriage, which is why we’re having this press meeting. Nikolai is a wonderful person, and by God’s grace, we met and got married. I will continue acting in films, and I hope your love and support will always be with us.”
