'OK Kanmani' starring Dulquer Salmaan and Nithya Menen was liked by the audience and the film recorded good success. The film directed by Mani Ratnam was said to be remade in Hindi with Ratnam’s protégé Shaad Ali directing the remake. There were talks that the 'Aashiqui 2' pair of Aditya Roy Kapoor and Shraddha Kapoor would be reprising the roles of Dulquer and Nithya in Hindi but reports indicate that Mani Ratnam wants only Dulquer and Nithya to do the Hindi version as he feels no one can replace this pair for this story.
