Lingusamy, renowned for blockbuster Tamil hits like "Run," "Sandakozhi," and "Paiyaa," recently discussed his past differences with Mammootty during his debut directorial venture, "Aanandham" (2001).
During filming, rumours hinted at tensions between Lingusamy and Mammootty. Lingusamy admitted fault, citing his inexperience and insistence on certain aspects. He praised Mammootty's legendary status and regretted not heeding his advice. Lingusamy attributed any conflicts to momentary frustrations rather than lasting animosity.
Lingusamy admitted that he still speaks to Mammootty at times about his films. “I recently spoke to him after watching Bramayugam trailer. Who can do a film like Kaathal: The Core? Even he asked me the same. ‘Who will do the film there? Is there anyone who can do it?’ You know that ego drives them. You need it. Only if it’s there, he is Mammootty.”
During the interview, Lingusamy also expressed his disappointment with Kamal Haasan while producing his film Uttama Villain. He claimed that the movie led to a huge financial loss for his production house. While Haasan has promised to do a film with him to compensate for the loss, the project is yet to take off.
