Actor Kamal Haasan and filmmaker S Shankar have announced that the much-awaited "Indian 2" (Hindustani 2) will be split into two parts: "Indian 2" and "Indian 3." The sequel will hit theatres on July 12, with "Indian 3" slated for release in 2025, a few months later.
At the trailer launch event of "Indian 2" in Mumbai, Kamal Haasan disclosed that both "Indian 2" and "Indian 3" were shot simultaneously. He explained, "That's the choice of the director. When I made Vishwaroop, we started with a 350-page script. From day one, I decided it would be a two-part film. I informed my crew and ensured they were compensated accordingly. Similarly, Shankar made the decision to shoot sporadically between two films."
Kamal then highlighted how Shankar secured the backing of Lyca Productions, a banner willing to support his vision for both "Indian 2" and "Indian 3." He remarked, "Many filmmakers struggle to find support for one film, but Shankar managed to persuade them for two. If it were me, I might have opted for one film, as many competent directors do. But Shankar saw an opportunity to create two films and seized it. That's his vision, and I respect that."
