Vijay announced that his next film will be his final project before entering active politics. Although there were rumours that director H Vinoth would helm this swansong, no official confirmation was made until Vinoth confirmed at an awards ceremony that he is indeed directing Vijay in the film, tentatively titled ‘Thalapathy 69’.
When asked if Vijay’s upcoming film would be political, director H Vinoth clarified, “It will be a 200 percent Thalapathy film, aimed at all ages and political views.” He emphasised that ‘Thalapathy 69’ will be purely commercial, with no focus on political leaders or parties.
With this project, Vinoth becomes one of the few filmmakers to have directed both Ajith and Vijay. He described Ajith as an abstract thinker and Vijay as a straightforward thinker. Official updates on the cast and crew of ‘Thalapathy 69’ are expected after the release of ‘GOAT’, directed by Venkat Prabhu and set for September 5. ‘GOAT’ also stars Prashanth, Sneha, Laila, Prabhudeva, Ajmal, Meenakshi Chaudhary, and Jayaram.
