Actor Shruthi Haasan found herself in trouble when an interim injunction order was issued by a Hyderabad court restraining her from signing any offer till she completes the multi-starrer being directed by Vamsi Paidipalli that also stars Nagarjuna Akkineni and Karthi (brother of actor Surya).
The order came following a petition filed by Picture House Media, a media and entertainment house operating out of Chennai and Hyderabad, seeking to initiate civil and criminal proceedings against her for missing her shooting schedules and reneging on contractual obligations.
She had earlier entered into an agreement as the female lead in a bi-lingual (Tamil & Telugu) under production. The petition was filed by P V K Kishore as authorised signatory on behalf of Picture House Media. Following the court direction, the Banjara Hills police registered a case against Shruthi.
In a statement, Picture House Media said the actor had pulled out of the project after the first schedule, citing clash of her dates as a ‘flimsy excuse’. It said the dates were mutually discussed with her and that the schedules were planned according to her convenience. After completion of the first schedule, the makers said the actor had conveyed through an email that she wanted to exit the project. This ‘unethical and unprofessional’ act had led to Picture House Media incurring a financial loss and also that of its reputation, said the statement. Shruthi has enjoyed a good run with at least three of her eight films since 2011 turning out to be hits.
