Sanjay Leela Bhansali's debut web series "Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar" has been drawing attention since its Netflix premiere on May 1. Additionally, his niece, actor Sharmin Segal, has been in the spotlight, facing criticism for her acting and promotional interviews. Some social media users have accused her of appearing 'rude' and 'disrespectful' towards her "Heeramandi" co-stars.

The actor expressed gratitude for her co-stars like Richa Chadha and Aditi Rao Hydari, who stood up for her amidst online criticism. She appreciatively noted their public support and personal gestures, especially Aditi's consistent care and concern throughout the challenging period. The actor emphasised her deep respect and admiration for Aditi, clarifying their strong bond amid misconceptions.

Sharmin reiterated her satisfaction with her co-stars' support, emphasising that recent events have been taken out of context. She expressed gratitude for their defence against online perceptions portraying her as disrespectful or arrogant towards them, which she stated does not reflect her actual relationships. Regarding her performance as Alamzeb in "Heeramandi," which received mixed to negative feedback, Sharmin highlighted the unfairness of judging someone based on public commentary, as it doesn't accurately represent who she is as a person.
