Actress Rasika Dugal, tired of always crying on camera, is relieved that writers are now creating more diverse roles for her. She recalls a time when scripts predictably included at least two crying scenes in the last 10 minutes. Dugal is grateful for the change in roles since ‘Mirzapur’, which showcased her as a femme fatale.
Rasika Dugal admitted that typecasting often limited her acting range. “I could always predict that the last ten pages of a script would include at least two crying scenes for me.” When asked if things have changed, she replied, “Yes, there's now more variety, and I’m happy to see a bit of the femme fatale role.”
Rasika Dugal credits the OTT boom for revitalising her career. She noted that streaming services significantly increased her work opportunities and audience reach. “Streaming platforms gave me a new lease on life, as many of my films had not received the release they deserved. Shows like ‘Mirzapur’ allowed smaller films to reach wider audiences, which was a major breakthrough for me.”
