Payal Kapadia's ‘All We Imagine As Light’, after earning Golden Globe nominations for Best Director and Best Foreign Language Film, has now secured three spots on the BAFTA longlist: Best Director, Best Original Screenplay, and Best Film Not in the English Language.
The BAFTA longlists for 25 categories have been unveiled, with Jacques Audiard's ‘Emilia Perez’, a lively crime drama, leading with 15 nods. Edward Berger's papal thriller ‘Conclave’ followed closely with 14 nominations. Films such as ‘The Substance’, ‘The Brutalist’, and ‘A Complete Unknown’ featured on 11 longlists, while ‘Wicked’ and ‘Dune: Part Two’ appeared on 10, and ‘Anora’ and ‘Gladiator 2’ secured nine nominations each.
Payal Kapadia’s ‘All We Imagine As Light’, starring Kani Kusruti, Divya Prabha, and Chhaya Kadam, is a poignant exploration of the transformative power of friendship and sisterhood, with all its intricacies and depth. The film won the Grand Prix at the 77th Cannes Film Festival and earned accolades at the Gotham Awards, New York Film Critics Circle, Los Angeles Film Critics Association, San Diego Film Critics Society, Phoenix Critics Circle, and Toronto Film Critics Association, among others.
