Neena Gupta, gearing up to reprise her role as Manju Devi in the third season of "Panchayat," recently opened up about various aspects of her life. Despite being labelled as a ‘rebel star’ and ‘bold actress,’ she revealed in an interview that she doesn’t identify with these epithets. Neena explained that the media bestowed her with this image primarily because she is a single mother. The veteran actress also reminisced about her early days in Mumbai and shared the advice she gave to her daughter, Masaba Gupta, who is expecting her first child with her husband, Satyadeep Mishra.

Neena Gupta, an esteemed actor since 1982, faced challenges during her early days in Mumbai. In an interview, she reminisced about considering leaving the city every three months. Despite initial struggles, she found Mumbai's allure hard to resist, as opportunities always seemed to arise when she contemplated leaving.

While Neena Gupta's journey has been inspiring, it's had its share of ups and downs. She now finds herself in a place where she can decline roles if she chooses. Reflecting on her past, she recalls doing bold projects solely for financial reasons, even praying for some films not to release. However, she now exercises the freedom to say no to roles that don't resonate with her, opting only for scripts and roles she genuinely believes in.
