The competition jury praised Raam Reddy’s ‘The Fable’ as a “lyrical homage to timeless tales passed through generations, made ever-relevant through the steady rhythms and undeniable truths of life.” They highlighted the film’s exploration of colonialism and labour relations, delivered with a gentle yet powerful touch of magical realism, creating a tangible yet enchanting world.

“No other film felt more deserving of the Constellation Competition Grand Prize,” the jury remarked, calling it an “inventive, entrancing work about stories carried by stars.” They expressed hope that wider audiences would experience its magic on the big screen.

‘The Fable’, a US-Indian co-production, follows Dev as he uncovers mysteriously burnt trees in his vast fruit orchards nestled in the Indian Himalayas. Despite his efforts to stop the fires, they persist, ultimately forcing him to confront the true nature of himself and his family, according to the official synopsis.
