With just a click, viewers can access a diverse array of content across genres and languages, perfectly suited to their mood. The OTT revolution, celebrated for showcasing stories from around the globe, offers a unique platform for artists to experiment and innovate.

Despite the OTT revolution, content quality has been declining, leading to viewer fatigue and complaints about diminished standards. Actors like Sikandar Kher and Sharib Hashmi have previously emphasised the need for maintaining high content quality. Actor Manav Kaul shares this concern, stating, “Everything is a reflection of society.” Kaul, known for his roles in shows such as ‘Ghoul’ (2018), ‘The Verdict: State vs Nanavati’ (2019), ‘The Fame Game’ (2023), and ‘Tribhuvan Mishra CA Topper’, echoes the sentiment that the quality of content needs careful attention.

The 47-year-old actor expresses, “We gave writers a new playground with this medium and they embraced it, but to sustain that, we haven’t provided them with the recognition they deserve. The day we start celebrating writers, everything will change.”

He attributes the decline in content quality to audience preferences, noting, “The audience dictates what gets made. If you’re entertained by shallow content, that’s what will keep being produced. If you don’t seek out higher-quality entertainment, you’ll end up with ‘sasta’ entertainment.”
