Veteran actor Farida Jalal, renowned for her diverse roles in films and television, recently portrayed a pivotal character in "Heeramandi." In a recent interview, she addressed the criticism faced by her co-star Sharmin Segal regarding her performance in the series.

During her interaction, the actor from "Heeramandi" shared her thoughts on Sharmin being subjected to trolling. "I'm not happy about this. Let's be kind. She's given her best within her capacity as an actor. The character didn't require being loud or boisterous," she remarked. She added, "Why should we be mean to her? Let's be kind. Maybe that's her limit, and that's okay. The character is not meant to be loud. She's a shayara who falls in love with my bacchha (Taha Shah's character), and that's it."

"Heeramandi" derives its title from the red-light district of Heeramandi in Lahore, present-day Pakistan, during pre-partition India. Set against the backdrop of the Indian independence revolution of the 1920s-1940s, the story unfolds amid a power struggle between courtesans of Lahore, Nawabs, and British officers. This epic series marks Sanjay Leela Bhansali's debut in the OTT space. It features a star-studded cast including Manisha Koirala, Sonakshi Sinha, Aditi Rao Hydari, Richa Chadha, Shekhar Suman, Adhyayan Suman, Fardeen Khan, and others in pivotal roles.
