Randeep Hooda, director of "Swatantrya Veer Savarkar," recently discussed his extreme weight loss journey, which nearly cost him his life. Drawing parallels between how he lost weight for Sarbjit and Savarkar biopic, Randeep said, “This time around, I was underweight for one-and-a-half years. When the previous producers shelved the movie, I had lost all my muscle mass. I recall passing out and tumbling off [my] horse. My calf was bent at a right angle to my thigh, which makes me realise how weak I may have been... that's what happens when you deprive yourself of food for a long time. I couldn't even walk.”
Randeep Hooda revealed the extreme measures he took for his role, losing a kilo a day for a set period, leading to weakness and fainting spells. Despite careful planning, setbacks led to frustration and a need to repeat the process, risking his health. Reflecting on the experience, he emphasised the importance of actors looking the part but acknowledged the dangers and the need for better organisation in such transformations.
Days before his directorial debut release, Randeep Hooda caused a stir online by sharing a behind-the-scenes picture from the film set. Portraying Vinayak Damodar Savarkar, the image depicts a slender Hooda wearing oversized shorts, hinting at a scene from the cellular jail.
