Now, a significant update reveals that the film will revolve around the life of gangster Hussain Ustra, with a focus on Hussain and Lady Don Sapna Didi. The role of Sapna Didi is yet to be cast, with the makers aiming for a prominent actress. Initially, Deepika Padukone was considered for the role of Sapna Didi, while the late actor Irrfan Khan was intended to portray Hussain Ustra.
Vishal Bhardwaj had penned a script years ago depicting the tale of gangster Hussain Ustra, who harboured a longstanding feud with Dawood Ibrahim. Initially, there were plans to bring this story to life with Irrfan Khan and Deepika Padukone in lead roles. Although the project remained incomplete, some scenes were filmed with the actors from "Piku." Now, Vishal is set to rejuvenate the project, making adjustments to the script to align with contemporary times. Initially focused on Sapna Didi's perspective, the narrative will now centre around Hussain Ustra. Reports suggest a hefty budget of Rs 150 crore for the film, produced by Sajid Nadiadwala.
