Rajasthan's Shri Rajput Karni Sena has pulled daggers against chief of the Central Board of Film Certification chief Prasoon Joshi, saying he will “not be allowed to enter Rajasthan”. The group leader Sukhdev Singh blamed Joshi of misguiding the Supreme Court, which has ordered to stay the ban on the release of Sanjay Leela Bhansali's 'Padmava' in Madhya Pradesh, Haryana, Rajasthan, and Gujarat.
Singh said, “We have not received the SC's decision as yet but as soon as we get it, we will go to the President. The court does not give a hearing date before six months, I wonder how Joshi got the date within 12 hours. I am sure he has misled the court.” In an interim order, the SC said all states are constitutionally obliged to maintain law and order and prevent any untoward incident during the screen of the film after permission has been granted by the CBFC.
A day after it lifted a four-state ban, the SC was yet again petitioned for a ban by a lawyer called Manohar Lal Sharma. He said the Censor Board clearance to the film was “illegal” and that the release of the movie may create law and order problems. The court refused to entertain yet another plea against the movie, saying that its the court's job to “function as a constitutional court”, which it did with its decision. A bench headed by Chief Justice of India Dipak Misra, said, “The court has to function as a constitutional court and it has already in its interim order said that states can't block a movie from screening.”
