After an absence of almost nine years, Imran Khan is poised for a spectacular comeback to Bollywood. This return holds sentimental significance as Khan reunites with his maternal uncle, Aamir Khan, who played a pivotal role in kickstarting his career. Khan has recently inked a deal for a whimsical comedy named "Happy Patel," under the direction of Vir Das.
As per a Peeping Moon report, the movie will be backed by Aamir Khan Productions, marking a significant moment for the actor. Aamir initially introduced Imran to the big screen as a child artist in the 1988 film Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak. Fast forward two decades to 2008, Aamir Khan Productions propelled Imran into stardom with the successful romantic comedy Jaane Tu… Ya Jaane Na.
While specifics about Happy Patel are being kept confidential, insiders portray it as a uproarious comedy unfolding in a distinctive yet recognisable setting. Described as reminiscent of Imran's past comedic hits, the film promises a blend of humour, relatable characters, and heartfelt narratives. Filming for the project has already commenced in Goa.
Adding another exciting layer to the project is the directorial debut of Vir Das. Khan and Das previously co-starred in the critically acclaimed 2011 black comedy Delhi Belly. While Das has experience of directing a web series (yet to be released), Happy Patel will be his first feature film directorial venture.
