About author: Anthony P Stone, obtained his first degree in Mathematics, as well as his PhD Dr Anthony Philip Stone in theoretical physics, at the University of Oxford. Arriving in India in 1956, he taught mathematics at colleges in Bengal, Kerala, and Delhi. Becoming intrigued with the Hindu obsession with astrology, he learned Hindi at Delhi University and Sanskrit at Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan. He was accepted as a Fellow of the Indian Association for History and Philosophy of Sciences, and Life Member of the Indian Mathematical Society and of the Indian Society for the History of Mathematics.
