Having endured a lean patch that lasted seven outings, Yashasvi Jaiswal finally struck form with an unbeaten 104 off 60 balls, his second IPL hundred, as he guided Rajasthan Royals to a nine-wicket win over an unimpressive Mumbai Indians at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur on Monday. The star batsman, who struck nine fours and seven sixes, ensured the Royals’s chase of a 180-run target was smooth sailing. The hosts finished the chase with eight balls remaining. Earlier, braving the potent bowling attack of Royals, youngsters Tilak Varma (65 off 45 balls) along with Nehal Wadhera (49 off 24 balls) guided Mumbai to a respectable 179/9 in 20 overs.

KKR prevail over RCB by one run

Karn Sharma's last-over heroics of hitting Mitchell Starc for three sixes proved inadequate for Royal Challengers Bengaluru as they lost to Kolkata Knight Riders by one run in an IPL match at the Eden Gardens on Sunday. The win was KKR’s fifth of the tournament, bringing them back to the second spot. RCB’s misery continued despite an enthralling fightback as they firmly remain at the bottom of the table. It seems 200 is the par score in the IPL now. And, as it has been proven of late, even that may not be enough. KKR almost learnt it the hard way twice in a row. Having failed to defend 223 a few days ago against Rajasthan Royals, they all but did a repeat act after scoring 222 for six on Sunday.

Sai Kishore, Tewatia star in Titans win

R Sai Kishore starred as Gujarat Titans tamed Punjab Kings by three wickets for their fourth win in the 2024 IPL on Sunday. The spin trio of Sai Kishore (4/ 33), Rashid Khan (1/15) and Noor Ahmed (2/20) exposed an ill-equipped Punjab Kings with their guile to dismiss them for a below-par 142. Liam Livingstone, who juggles between leg-break and off-spin, struck twice in the middle overs to keep Punjab Kings alive in the game. However, he did not get much support from fellow spinner Harpreet Brar, who leaked 35 in his four overs in a low-scoring affair. With 42 runs to get off 30 balls, Titans eventually recorded a comfortable win in 19.1 overs courtesy a pressure releasing cameo from Rahul Tewatia (36 not out off 16). It was Gujarat Titans' fourth win in eight games while Punjab Kings suffered their sixth loss in eight matches.

SRH beat Delhi by 67 runs

Sunrisers Hyderabad smashed the record books once again as they struck 266/7 before beating Delhi Capitals by 67 runs at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi on Saturday. Led by a marauding PowerPlay start from Travis Head (89) and Abhishek Sharma (46), SRH put on 125 in the first six overs. Despite the run flow, DC mounted a comeback with Kuldeep Yadav bagging three wickets and Axar Patel dismissing the dangerous Heinrich Klaasen by the 10th over. However, Nitish Kumar and Shahbaz Ahmed powered SRH back into the hunt with sturdy cameos that took them over 250 again. Both teams coming into the game with momentum on their side but it is Pant’s side that needs a win more than the visitors.

K L Rahul and Quinton de Kock brilliantly paced Lucknow Super Giants’ chase to beat Chennai Super Kings with an over to spare in the Indian Premier League on Friday. Rahul’s and De Kock’s opening partnership of 134 runs set up Lucknow to reach 180-2 in reply to Chennai’s 176-6 and win by eight wickets. Both teams have four wins from sevens games, but Chennai was third and Lucknow fifth on net run rate. Skipper Rahul scored 82 off 53 balls with nine fours and three sixes. He was out with only 16 runs needed. De Kock scored 54 off 43 balls and fell in the 15th over. They made full use of the power play, plundering 54 runs in the first six overs.
