An exciting match was played out recently between the ‘Help for Heroes XI’ and ‘Rest of the World XI’, in the first ever cricket fund raiser for ‘Help for Heroes’, a charity for British soldiers who have been wounded in the line of duty.
The two teams played exciting cricket in front of some 20,000 packed Oval crowd. Batting first, ROW XI finished their innings at 158/6 in 20 overs. Matthew Hayden, Mahela Jayawardene and Brendon McCullum were the main scorers for ROW XI.
In reply, HFH XI won the match by 5 wickets with 3 balls to spare. Virender Sehwag, Andrew Strauss and Dhoni were the main contributors for the team. Almost £300,000 were raised during the match.
