I am a professional person based at Ahmedabad. During November and December, I had an opportunity to visit Rajkot, Surat, Vadodara and Anand. Talking to business friends, those involved in real estate business as well as in healthcare facilities, I was struck by the huge number of visitors from abroad who have been a great boon to their business activities.
Besides their spending power, NRIs provide a very unique encouragement and help to various social, cultural, religious developmental projects in their ancestral villages as well as the schools or colleges which helped them in the past.
The hard work, ethics and their love for the Motherland also provide an incentive for the local relations and friends to achieve more, especially through entrepreneurship.
Finally, when NRI visitors bring with them their family members, especially their young children, it is a subtle but effective assistance for continuous connectivity with the Indians at home and with those who live overseas.
