14 killed, 30 injured in Andhra bus accident

Anantapur: Fourteen people have died and 30 others received injuries as an Andhra Pradesh State transport bus fell into a valley on Penukonda-Madakasira road in Anantapur district. The bus was proceeding to Penukonda from Madakasira when it slipped into the valley 20 feet below. A majority of the victims were engineering students, who were proceeding to their college. The condition of eight students is said to be critical. The driver of the bus lost control over the wheel while reportedly trying to avoid hitting an auto rickshaw. The injured passengers have been admitted to hospitals in Anantapur, Penukonda and Bangalore.
