Kejri-led Aam Aadmi Party's state unit has announced the launch of its Chhatra Yuva Sangharsh Samiti, opened with the purpose of making a foray into student politics. The party intends to expand its student and youth wing across Maharashtra in a month, to reach out to the young generation.
AAP's Maharashtra unit executive member and CYSS in-charge Farooque Ahmed said, “AAP has initiated its foray into student politics and going by the enormous support from students and party's cadre, CYSS will emerge as force to reckon with across the state. Moreover, traditional political parties haven't done justice to student's issues and have merely reduced them to pawn sin the game of petty politics, this is exactly what CYSS is attempting to change.”
“We could be having six regions. Dr Sushant Bolkar has been appointed as head of Mumbai Metropolitan Region. In the other five regions of Konkan, North Maharashtra, Western Maharashtra, Marathwada and Vidarbha, the heads would be appointed soon,” he said.
Party's state convener, Subhash Ware said, “Youth are the foundation of tomorrow’s India and have a crucial role to play in reforming politics. CYSS is an honest attempt to create leaders and allocate responsible positions to youth. AAP has initiated its foray into student politics and going by the enormous support from students and party’s cadre, the CYSS will emerge as a force to reckon with across the state.”
Other student wings in the state are, Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP), National Students Union of India (NSUI), Shiv Sena’s Yuva Sena (YS) headed by Aaditya Thackeray, Maharashtra Navnirman Vidyarthi Sena (MNVS), and Students Federation of India (SFI).
